Objectives

  • Explain the pathophysiology, risk factors, and clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis and plaque psoriasis and its impact on patient quality of life
  • Discuss non-pharmacologic approaches and the step-care pharmacologic approach for managing atopic dermatitis and plaque psoriasis plus emerging therapies, including safety and efficacy issues
  • Identify the current limitations with traditional therapies and the evolving role of the newest biologic agents that address disease pathogenesis
  • Recognize the role of interprofessional health team in the management of atopic dermatitis and plaque psoriasis including making clinical recommendations, facilitating access to care, and educating patients to optimize outcomes.
