Objectives
- Define the concepts of SUD, OUD, dependence, addiction.
- Describe the neurobiology of SUD and OUD.
- Describe screening tools to identify patients at risk for SUD.
- Identify the non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic management available for SUD, particularly alcohol and OUD.
- Identify common barriers to the access to medications.
- Discuss the pharmacist’s role for increasing access to treatment for OUD patients seeking care.
