NON – STERILE COMPOUNDING FOR DERMATOLOGY


This presentation will cover the discussion of some of the most common diseases and non – sterile compounding formulations prescribed for dermatological disorders. Applications of both; USP Chapter <795> and USP chapter <800> will be included in the discussion. Also, we will cover the different resources for obtaining formulas, as well as the equipment and devices employed in the preparations of such formulations. Objectives

  • Define and discuss main principles of contemporary non – sterile compounding.
  • Review some of the most common dermatological disorders and some of the non – sterile compounded preparations that are used in the treatment of such conditions.
  • Discuss and present the equipment and devices commonly used in the preparation for the different dosage forms used in the preparation of these dermatological formulations
  • Mention different resources that could be used for formula acquisition.
  • Briefly review the USP chapters <795> and <800> and their application in the preparation of compounding formulations for the above-mentioned conditions.
  • Review the current laws and USP recommendations for the preparation of non – sterile compounding.
